Unfuck Your Brain
The video that helped me do exactly that — recommended
How many things do you have on your plate today? How many tasks are on your to-do list? How many projects are sitting on your laptop waiting to be attended to? How many books are you halfway through reading?
In the last article, I wrote about how I found myself with an unlimited amount of time and although it’s something I had always desired, it didn’t do what I expected it to.
If you haven’t read that article, you can find it here.
For a while now, I’ve been reflecting back on the big WHY of the behavior I exhibited during those couple of years, and in retrospect, it’s become clear that it couldn’t have been any other way. Here is why.
My brain was fucked.
- I was in the middle of a very intense, time-consuming training course as a consultant.
- I was in the process of writing a book for new immigrants to America.
- I was halfway through writing another book about my experience in a fundamental religious cult.
- I was studying (or attempting to learn) French, Spanish, and Arabic on Duolingo.
- I was spending a lot of time thinking a planning a new future career as a restauranteur.
- I was building my own blog because I thought that’s what I wanted to do become before I discovered a better way to share content online (*hint, hint).
