Ever Wish You Had More Time to Build a Business?

What I learned from 2 years of doing almost nothing

Do you ever wish you had more time to do the things you want to do? Most entrepreneurs, freelancers, and writers do. There just never seems to be enough time to do all the things we want to do or write all the content we want to write.

I’ve had jobs for 30 years with an occasional break between jobs or relocations. During all those years, I knew I wanted to start my own business at some point.

In 2007, I self-published my first book. It was an award winner. I wanted to write even more books, or maybe start a blog, but there was one thing that seemed to hold me back. That limiting factor was time.

In 2019, I decided that I was gonna give writing a second shot. But where do I find the time? My schedule seemed as full as can be with the 2 jobs I already had.

Like most people, I always thought that if I didn’t have to work, commute, pay bills, and have all these other responsibilities, I would be a writing machine.

I envisioned myself spending every waking hour writing. I definitely didn’t lack topics to write about. I always felt that I had at least 5 good books in me.

And then in late 2019, Covid hit. Both my jobs were evaporated.

Without going into the details of how this happened, I found myself living in a hotel suite for free, a situation that was almost too good to be true.

For the first time in my life, I didn’t have to pay rent, didn’t have to commute, and free meals were delivered to my room 3 times a day.

All my basic needs were taken care of and with everything in the city pretty much closed, there were no places to go or things to do other than get intimate with nature, which I did.

So, I finally had the one thing I had desired more than anything else in my entire life. Time and freedom. I had it in buckets and barrels.

So, what did I do with all that time?

First, let’s look at what I should have been doing. I should have been reading, researching, and writing. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.

I question everything...and then write about it. I'm probably not going to help you "make money writing." But I might teach you a thing or two ..or not.
